At KICK, we take our Community Guidelines seriously. We want you to be your authentic self, and clear guidelines and consistent moderation help maintain a fair, fun, and safe platform. But as we grow, many of you have been asking for more transparency when it comes to account bans and suspensions.
We hear you. And we’ll put our words into action.
That’s why we’ve rolled out an update to our guidelines, designed to be clearer, fairer, and more transparent about how moderation works on KICK.
What’s in the Current Guidelines?
On August 20, 2024, we released an update outlining what content isn’t allowed on Kick.com and how content violations are handled.
But we know some of you felt moderation was too harsh, while others wanted more insight into why bans and suspensions happen. We’ve been listening, and this latest update is all about making things crystal clear.
What’s Changing in This Update?
More Clarity
We’ve reworded our guidelines to make them more straightforward. No more confusion, just straight-up info on what’s acceptable (and what isn’t) on KICK. We’ve also added a moderation summary to give a clearer guidance on how moderators assess reported content. We have also changed the language used when describing account status. They include:
- Suspended - This is time-based, so you’ll know exactly how long you won’t have access to KICK (e.g., 7 days).
- Indefinitely Suspended - There’s no set end date, but you can reach out to the appeals team for review.
- Permanently Banned - We won’t consider appeals under this account status. This is reserved for the most serious offences.
Transparent Moderation
We’re letting you in on how our moderation team reviews reported content. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, we now consider context, intent, and the creator’s reaction before making a decision. This means that our mods will consider the full story of the reported content rather than what’s been presented. This will apply to everyone who streams on our platform, ensuring a fairer playing field for ALL creators.
Here’s an example: public challenges and stunts
- Scenario 1: In a safe environment, a creator attempts a harmless challenge, like balancing a spoon on their nose.
- Less likely to result in action.
- Scenario 2: A creator climbs a high-rise building without safety gear, risking serious injury or death
- More likely to result in action because it could cause copycats, its trespassing, and the streamer is more likely to break the law.
That’s why we’re shifting toward fair and case-by-case moderation.
What’s Next?
KICK is all about creativity and authenticity. As a creator-first platform, we want to give you the freedom to express yourself while ensuring everyone understands the boundaries that keep the community safe.
These updated Community Guidelines bring more clarity and transparency so everyone’s on the same page.
We encourage everyone to read the full guidelines. They’re available now on our website.
