Learn about AlexIsStreaming's journey to Kick!
Why did you start Streaming?
I started streaming all the way back in 2008 on a platform called "UStream". Back then I was involved in a Guitar Hero high score community called "Scorehero" which still exists to this day. I streamed to verify my scores and interact with other members in that community.
What made you stream on Kick?
There are multiple layers to this question for me...
By the time I started streaming on Kick, I had been partnered with another platform for around 5 years, and had been held to an exclusivity clause.
That platform finally ended the exclusivity requirement around the time I started, and had made a few decisions that really made me want to try another platform. I was getting very unhappy with how things were going. I decided to give the green platform a shot and have loved it since my first stream.
Around the time I started, I was also wrapping up a streaming marathon. I streamed every single day for 2391 days in a row (nearly 7 years). No days off with an average of 6 hours per night. I wanted a change of scenery. I needed something fresh after spending tens of thousands of hours in one spot.
Kick was and still is the most exciting option in terms of userbase, compensation and a roadmap into the future. Over time, using it, the genuine support I've felt from other users and the staff has left me feeling excited to be over here.
What kind of Content do you Create?
On Kick I am a Retro Streamer! I have a strong passion for retro hardware and games. I'll check out some of the most obscure games you can think of, on platforms like Sega Saturn, PSP, PS1, Genesis, Turbografx-16, DOS and more. I'll also play some classics too! I love presenting games of years past and showcasing them for others to learn about or rediscover.
What are your top tips for live streaming?
Present the content you would like to watch. Go back, watch your past broadcasts and evaluate if you'd watch yourself as a random viewer browsing around.
Don't try to only emulate others. Taking inspiration is natural, but be your own person. You don't need to have the highest quality equipment, the most bombastic energy or slick production values to be successful. Streaming is personality driven. Be yourself, be authentic.
Streaming Schedule
I stream on Kick 5 days a week (usually Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) starting at 7:30AM EST!
